Install Ledger Wallet
Download Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live) only from Ledger’s official website or your device’s official app store. Open the app and choose the option to set up a new device.

Write down your recovery phrase
Your device displays a recovery phrase during first-time setup. Write every word in order on the recovery sheet and store it offline in a private, secure place.

Verify your device and finish setup
Complete the genuine-device check in Ledger Wallet, then follow its instructions to install the apps you need and add accounts for supported assets.

The 24 words shown during setup can restore access to your wallet. Treat them like the keys to your home: private, offline, and never shared.
- Write the words down in the exact order shown.
- Keep the written copy somewhere private and secure.
- Never photograph, email, or store it in cloud notes.
- Ignore anyone asking you to reveal or enter the phrase.

Where should I download Ledger Wallet?
Get the app directly from Ledger’s official download page at ledger.com/ledger-live or use the official app store listing for your device. Avoid sponsored search results, third-party download sites, and links sent in unsolicited messages.
Does Ledger support ever need my 24-word recovery phrase?
No. Never share or type your recovery phrase into a website, app, chat, or support conversation. Anyone who obtains it may be able to access the assets protected by it. Ledger device setup should be completed on your device, not by giving the phrase to another person.
What if I already have a recovery phrase?
Choose the restore-from-recovery-phrase option only if you are intentionally restoring your own wallet and understand the security implications. Enter words only on your genuine Ledger device using its own interface, never into a computer or phone app or website.
